Each woman facing an eating disorder and other behavioral health concerns undergoes a unique healing process. After completing a more intensive level of care, many women can benefit from transitioning to a structured yet less intense program to continue their healing journey.
The Power of Intensive Outpatient Programming
Our intensive outpatient program (IOP) at Timberline Knolls provides care multiple days per week, offering women aged 18 and older an opportunity to continue their recovery while gradually reintegrating into their day-to-day routine.
Why Choose Our IOP?
An intensive outpatient program allows you to receive ongoing professional care for eating disorders, mental health concerns, trauma, or substance use disorders. At Timberline Knolls, women who have completed our residential program or partial hospitalization program (PHP) can step down to our IOP. We also welcome direct admissions to our IOP.
Embracing our IOP at Timberline Knolls comes with various benefits:
- Flexibility: Our IOP provides a higher level of support compared to traditional outpatient therapy. It allows you to maintain your work, school, or other activities while receiving the care you need.
- Camaraderie: Similar to our PHP, our IOP includes group therapy sessions, enabling you to form connections with women who have also struggled with eating disorders and behavioral health concerns.
- Skill-building practice: With the newfound flexibility of our IOP, you can apply the skills you’ve learned to real-life situations.
The Transformative IOP Experience
At Timberline Knolls, we understand that each woman has unique needs, life experiences, medical history, and genetic background. Consequently, we personalize your care plan to ensure optimal results throughout your time with us. Even if you have completed PHP at our facility, our expert clinicians will adjust your previous plan to reflect the progress you made in higher levels of care.
Our intensive outpatient program takes place three to five days a week, depending on your specific needs. While the typical length of stay is flexible, most women participate in our IOP for approximately five to six weeks.
Elements of your care may include:
- Daily group therapy sessions
- Weekly individual and experiential therapies
- As-needed family therapy
Group sessions serve as the cornerstone of our programming, providing you with three hours of valuable treatment each day. These sessions cover various topics such as skill-building, motivation, relapse prevention, psychoeducation, boundaries, and embracing a meaningful life. Additionally, our experiential sessions may involve art, exposure outings, and skills practice.
The Evening IOP Experience
Our evening intensive outpatient program (IOP) serves as an ideal treatment option for women struggling with mood and trauma-related disorders. It offers the necessary structure and support that outpatient therapy alone may not provide. Additionally, the program’s flexibility allows you to receive treatment without interfering with your work or school schedules.
Our evening IOP is offered in-person on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
Embracing Continuing Care
At Timberline Knolls, we prioritize continuing care as we understand that seeking support for eating disorders, addiction, mood disorders, or trauma-related effects requires immense courage. Our goal is to ensure your success in the days, weeks, and months following your departure from our care.
As soon as you join our IOP, we initiate the creation of a unique discharge plan tailored to your needs. By starting this valuable resource early, we equip you with the necessary support to maintain your progress. We continuously update this plan to reflect the growth you achieve during your time in the IOP.
Your continuing care plan may include:
- Recommendations for follow-up care
- Access to community resources
- Options for support groups
- Details on the Timberline Knolls alumnae network to foster ongoing connections
Better days are well within your reach. By choosing Timberline Knolls, you can embrace those brighter days with a renewed perspective.
