Janitor AI recently gained popularity after going viral on TikTok. Many people now want to use Janitor AI for free instead of paying for the OpenAI API key. While Kobold API can be used on high-end computers, there are currently no options available for mobile users.
But don’t worry! In this article, we will show you how to use Janitor AI with Kobold API on your mobile devices, completely free of charge.
What You Need for Making Kobold API URL
To create a Kobold API URL, you will need the following:
- Chrome Browser: The Kobold API works best on the Chrome browser, as it is better supported by Google Colab.
- Google Colab Links: We will provide you with two URLs – one for TPU and another for GPU. If one doesn’t work, you can try the other, but we recommend starting with the GPU option.
- Internet Connection: Make sure you have a working internet connection.
How to Make an API URL for Janitor AI with Kobold API
Using KoboldAI on Google Colab is easy, even if you don’t have a high-end computer. Google Colab is an amazing tool that offers various free features, including cloud GPU support.
Follow these steps to get your Kobold API URL for Janitor AI or Venus Chub AI (both platforms):
- Open the respective Colab link for TPU or GPU. We recommend starting with the GPU link.
- Scroll down and tap the play button next to “Tap this if you play on mobile”. This will reveal an audio player. Play the silent audio to keep the tab alive and prevent Google from shutting it down. This audio uses only 13MB of data.
- If no audio player appears, it means your phone browser doesn’t support Google Colab in mobile view. In that case, go to your browser menu and enable desktop mode before proceeding.
- Select the chatbot model that best suits your needs. By default, we have the most recommended model selected.
- Scroll down to find more information about the model, and select “United” as the version.
- You can choose to use Google Drive for storing files and settings, but it’s not necessary. If you decide to use it, allow the necessary permissions.
- Click the play button next to “<- Select your model below and then click this to start KoboldAI”.
- Wait for the automatic installation and download process to complete. The duration may vary, but it typically takes 7 to 10 minutes. The downloads are done through Google’s internet connection, so you won’t be billed by your internet provider.
- After a few minutes, two Kobold URL links will appear. Copy the URL link (in blue) and paste it into the Kobold API URL box in Janitor AI or Venus Chub AI API settings. Click on “Check Kobold URL” to verify the API. If it works, save the settings and enjoy using Janitor AI with Kobold API.
- If the first URL doesn’t work, try the second one. If you encounter network errors or the URL doesn’t fetch, it may be due to high traffic. In that case, use another clone like Janitor AI or Venus AI, as they are clones of Venus AI.

Tips for Running Google Colab and Kobold API Perfectly
Here are some tips to ensure a smooth experience while using Google Colab and Kobold API:
- Google may occasionally show a captcha, especially after being open for 30 minutes or with frequent Colab usage. Keep the page open and check for captchas regularly. Failure to complete the captcha in time may result in session termination or lower priority for TPUs/GPUs.
- KoboldAI uses Google Drive for storing files and settings. You can upload soft prompts or user scripts directly on the Google Drive website. If you prefer not to save stories on Google Drive for privacy reasons, use the Download as .json option to download the story to your own computer. You can then load it back later.
- If your instance is unexpectedly shut down by Google, you can still recover your story using the Download as .json button as long as you haven’t closed the KoboldAI window.
- When you’re done with KoboldAI, go to the Runtime menu, click on Manage Sessions, and terminate any open sessions that you no longer need. This will help maintain a higher priority for getting a GPU/TPU.
- If you run out of space, use the Model Cleaner option to remove cached models (Google Drive models won’t be affected). You can find this option at the bottom of the TPU Colab page.
- If you receive an error message stating that you don’t have access to a GPU/TPU instance, do not continue and try again later. KoboldAI requires these resources to run correctly.
